My Bloody Valentine announce first show in nearly four years
Kevin Shields has said to expect a new album from the shoegaze heroes this year.
My Bloody Valentine’s Kevin Shields has said to expect a new album from the shoegaze legends this year, and the news is looking more and more likely, with the band announcing a new tour date, their first in a number of years.
The band will play Sonic Mania festival in Japan on 17th August alongside Nine Inch Nails and Marshmello, for what will be their first show in nearly four years.
“Oh, we one hundred percent will,” he told Pitchfork when asked if a new record was set to come out in 2018.
Shields went on to describe the process of working on the record: “Basically, the record started off as an EP, and I realized it has to be, like, a mini-album, because it’s going to be at least 40 minutes long.
“So it’s going to be an album, but I don’t really know how many tracks it’s going to be. It’ll probably be seven or eight, by the looks of it.
He also went on to confirm that My Bloody Valentine will tour the album upon its release, which has now been confirmed. “We’re going to play live again, he said, “so that’s always a really good way to guarantee that we’ll get the record done.”
