Orchards get jaggedy, ‘Darling’
Fresh from supporting the ace PWR BTTM, the Brighton band have a knack for sharp-edged, mathy, pop.
Every weekday, DIY’s new music know-it-all Neu brings you one essential new release to get obsessed with. Today’s Neu Pick comes from Orchards.
Jaggedy Brighton rabble Orchards first caught our attention with so-called “glitter gateway drug” ‘Honey’ last month, and since, they’ve absolutely aced a road-trip supporting PWR BTTM on their UK tour. A rough mixture of ‘Antidotes’-era Foals, Paramore at their poppiest, their latest track, ‘Darling’ is an absolute doozy.
“I know I can be yours, darling,” declares Lucy Evers atop sharp-edged, angular collisions, Orchards managing to cram approximately 5 killer hooks into the space of a single song.
With that in mind, we’re dead chuffed to have the first spin of ‘Darling’ below as today’s Neu Pick. Give it a whizz.
With Bob Vylan, St Vincent, girl in red, Lizzy McAlpine and more.
