Palma Violets reveal new video for ‘English Tongue’
The band’s newest clip features Game of Thrones star Paul Kaye.
It’s all about hats in the newest video to come from Palma Violets: hats and and a casual bit of preaching.
The quartet’s new clip for ‘English Tongue’ flits between a packed show by the band - in which frontman Sam Fryer has donned a rather lovely hat, for good measure - and scenes of the group pacing the streets, before they’re confronted by preacher Paul Kaye (who’s previously appeared in Dennis Pennis and Game Of Thrones).
It all ties together with the theme of the track, which the band’s Sam Fryer has explained: “‘English Tongue’ is the last song we wrote for the album,” he said in a press release. “We thought it sounded like an American country folk song with English lyrics and emotion. Then the name and character of Hugh Diver appeared, a man tied down by the pressures of fame and religion.”
The video comes directed by DJ and filmmaker Don Letts and was filmed across West London’s Portobello Road and St. John’s Church.
Check out the clip below.
‘English Tongue’ gets taken from the band’s new album ‘Danger In The Club’, which lands on 4th May through Rough Trade Records.
