Paramore perform ‘Hate To See Your Heart Break’ with Joy Williams at Billboard Women in Music event
Hayley Williams was presented with the Trailblazer award.
Friday saw US music biz magazine Billboard host its annual Women in Music luncheon, where various musicians were honoured - including Paramore’s Hayley Williams as Trailblazer, and Charli XCX as Hitmaker.
Elsewhere, Taylor Swift was awarded ‘Woman of the Year’, Aretha Franklin ‘Icon of the Year’, Idina Menzel ‘Breakthrough of the Year’, Iggy Azalea ‘Chart-topper’, Ariana Grande ‘Rising Star’ and, Jessie J as, er, ‘Powerhouse’.
One of the afternoon’s performances came from Williams, who along with the rest of Paramore and namesake Joy, ex-The Civil Wars, performed an acoustic version of ‘Hate to See Your Heart Break’, as featured on the deluxe edition of Paramore’s self-titled album, released last month.
Accepting her award, Hayley said: “This the greatest honor I could receive, because this is the legacy I want to leave. To be in a band with my two best friends and never do anything that was something we didn’t want to do. It’s an amazing and powerful thing to be celebrated for who you are.”
