Paramore offer a sort-of update on their fifth album
“After a rest, we have to go looking for what’s supposed to come after that,” Hayley Williams told fans.
Last summer, Paramore posted an in the studio snap confirming that they’re working on their new album with a certain Zac Farro back behind the kit after time away from the band. They also hinted that producer Justin Meldal-Johnsen will be working with the band once again, and taking up duties on bass, too.
Now, there’s another update. The follow-up to their 2013 self-titled album is currently in progress, and Hayley Williams has offered up her thoughts as the record starts to take shape. As well as revealing that work on their fifth album has been underway for around about a year, she also speaks about the pressure Paramore felt in following up ‘Paramore’ in the new post.
“Following up our self-titled album didn’t seem like it was going to be an easy task,” wrote the band’s Hayley Williams in a new update on Instagram, “and, unsurprisingly, it was not. The problem about comparing yourself to… yourself… is that even though it’s better than looking elsewhere, you’re still looking in the wrong direction,” she added. “For me, it wasn’t until i trusted that the past is finished with me that i could go looking for what’s next. Our pasts can be a great comforter, or a horror movie; a noose, or a shield… but it is “past” for a reason. After a rest, we have to go looking for what’s supposed to come after that.”
