Paul Smith and Peter Brewis reveal new video for ‘L.A. Street Cleaner’
The pair’s new video shows a hypnotising whirlpool of coloured reflections.
Paul Smith and Peter Brewis have revealed a brand new video for their new track ‘L.A. Street Cleaner’.
Taken from their recently-released collaborative album ‘Frozen By Sight’ - which is available through Memphis Industries now - the track is a swooning dalliance, the vocals echoing against its classic jazz sound.
The accompanying clip matches the pace of the song - which conjures visions of grandeur and ballroom dancing - with a swirling pattern of coloured light as it reflects off water. The video was filmed by Chris Bate on 16mm film.
Speaking of the track, the duo’s Paul Smith has said: “Peter’s music brings an odd tension to the words on this song. There’s a lightness to the plucked strings that made me think of the bleached-out sunlight of L.A. and I tried to pick phrases to match that. Once again, a sense of strangeness that might only occur to a non-native pervades the lyric. I hadn’t noticed how hairy palm trees are! In the US, the pavements are massive! There’s a sense of life going on at its own pace while the narrator has the luxury of a moment of contemplation.”
