Preoccupations have made a bid for the longest rock hit of the year with ‘Memory’, the latest track from their incoming second album.
The Canadian group have previously shared crushing cuts ‘Anxiety’ and ‘Degraded’ from the release, but ‘Memory’ takes a different slant, stretching their ambitions out over 11 minutes (!) without ever feeling laboured. A masterful exercise in post-punk push-and-pull, you can stream it below.
‘Preoccupations’ - the band’s first record since that name change - is set for release on September 16th via Jagjaguwar. We chat to the group about new beginnings in the September 2016 issue of DIY, out Friday - all the details on that are right here.
