Reading 2011: Young Legionnaire: Leeds Was “Biggest Audience We’ve Played To”

Young Legionnaire tell us what they’ve been up to, and about their Leeds set.

Prior to their set at Reading Festival yesterday (Sunday 28th August), Young Legionnaire put aside a few minutes for a quick chat about what they’ve been up to over summer, and their Leeds set.

‘We haven’t been touring festivals all summer like some bands,’ Gordon Moakes told DIY, ‘and sometimes when you’ve been out on the road, you can just get a vibe off the crowd. For us it was just a big deal to be out in a tent [at Leeds Festival]. We probably played to the biggest audience we’ve played to as Young Legionnaire so it was weird but it felt fun.’

‘We’ve just been to the studio and have a new EP coming out in September/October,’ Paul Mullen added, ‘so we’ll be doing a couple of tracks from that again [at Reading] just to try them out. It gives me an opportunity to say we’ve been working.’

Check back for the full interview later in the week.
