Listen: Regal Safari Remix Au Palais
Regal Safari’s remix of Au Palais’ ‘Tender Mercy’ is available to listen to now.
In a First On dream turn of a events, Regal Safari have remixed Au Palais.
Their version of the Au Palais track is available to listen to know via Soundcloud.
Speaking to DIY, Guy from Regal Safari says, ‘There’s a temptation when doing a mix to either cover a lot of ground or drop songs from a more popular sphere that you want to associate yourself with. It certainly felt like – listening to the mix as we were doing it – there were particular elements of each track that were in our music but it’s not necessarily direct referencing.
It’s a satisfying challenge. We don’t sample in the 90s sense, like dropping other people’s tracks in our tracks. But the sampling technique is something that we do a lot and remixes are an extension of that. You’re given the pieces and rather than trying to do another version of those songs, we really wanted to take a piece of them and re-construct as if we were writing an original song.’
Regal Safari recently lent us their remixing skills in a First On interview and Mix, which you can check out here.
The Brighton band also tried their hand at remixing the Egyptian Hip Hop track ‘Lake’ earlier this year.
Au Palais have recently posted audio of themselves covering the Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra track ‘Some Velvet Morning’.
The Sounds Of Sweet Nothing signed Canadian brother and sister act spoke to DIY earlier this year with Elise stating that, ‘2012 will see the release of our full-length, we’ve been working a lot on it, and just tested out some newest tracks the other night at a show in Toronto.’
David added of her admission, ‘We have a lot of exciting stuff we’re working on. Stay tuned. Particularly if you like early 90s house music.’
