Earlier today, Viva Brother seemed to reveal that they would be calling it a day, however, no one’s entirely sure.
The band - who started life out as simply ‘Brother’ before having to change their name in mid-2011 - tweeted the following message this morning: ‘Thank you to everyone that has ever supported us or believed. It has been an unbelievable journey. This is us signing off. Goodbye.’
A source close to the band revealed to DIY that the tweet was, in fact, an ‘April Fools’ despite the fact it was posted at 12.03pm.
However, NME.com are now reporting that ‘a spokesman for the band confirmed that the statement was true.’
The band’s original message was followed by a post an hour later, saying: ‘We’ll leave you with this last song. We recorded it a couple of months ago,’ with a link to the below video of ‘I Don’t Want To Be Loved’.
So, has the band split? No one really seems to know. DIY’s source has again reiterated that ‘the band definitely isn’t over’, but only time will tell…
