Ride look for a better way on ‘Lannoy Point’
According to Mark Gardner, it’s “my reflection on what the fuck is going on”.
With the release of their first album in over 20 years, ‘Weather Diaries’, imminent, cult shoegaze icons Ride have lifted the lid on another new
track.
Following on from ‘Charm Assault’ and ‘Home Is A Feeling’, ‘Lannoy
Point’ is the opening track of the record, and its lyrics focus on broken
Britain. As frontman Mark Gardener said in a statement: “Lyrically ‘Lannoy
Point’ is my reflection on what the fuck is going on with all this backward
’Little Britain’ depressing, blind faith, Brexit times we find ourselves
in. As I muse on in the chorus, I hope that “A better sense can start again” to
find our way out of this mess!”
Meanwhile, bassist Steve Queralt has a bit of a different
perspective: “’Lannoy Point’ is the result of going synth shopping in the
States. I found an old Poly 61 exactly the same the as one I had when I was
very young and the backing track is sound of my bank account emptying as I
shipped it back to London”.
