In it for the long haul
Ride look ready to release their first new album in 20 years
The news was revealed by DJ and producer Erol Alkan.
The last time shoegaze pioneers Ride released an album, Dolly the Sheep was born, Take That had split up for the first time and the Spice Girls were bringing back girl power.
Yep, it’s been 20 years since the band released ‘Tarantula’ in 1996, and they broke up not long after. But despite getting together for a couple of brief reunions, including for a string of live dates in 2014, there’s never been another LP on the cards. Until now…
DJ and producer Erol Alkan revealed on Instagram that he’s been working with the band, posting an in-studio shot of the group recording. He said he was “currently in the studio with Ride producing their forthcoming album.”
The band themselves also posted a shot of their equipment in the studio, so it really does seem as though it’s all systems go.
Take a look at the pics below and revisit their classic single ‘Vapour Trail.’
