Röyksopp share new single ‘Never Ever’
Not to be confused with the All Saints hit single of the same name….
Back in 2014, Norwegian DJ duo Röyksopp waved goodbye to the traditional album format with their final LP ‘The Inevitable End.’ It wasn’t the ‘inevitable end’ of Röyksopp as a group, though, and the pair have already shared a string of singles since - including a track for Rick Rubin’s ‘Star Wars Headspace’ compilation earlier in the year (yes, you read that right).
New stand-alone single ‘Never Ever’ features Susanne Sundfør -who’s worked with the pair extensively in the past - along with Röyksopp’s signature relentless beats. It’s also heavily drenched in oodles of 80s synths that make it, in their words, “disco baked beyond recognition.” Tasty stuff.
“The whole idea of us going away from the whole album concept was that we do have many musical expressions that we want to do,” said the duo’s Torbjørn Brundtland in a statement. “One of them might be a club track, but we don’t necessarily want to do an album of it. It’s that way with ‘Never Ever’ – we love it, but we don’t need 12 tracks like it.”
Fair enough. Have a listen to ‘Never Ever’, fresh from the Röyksopp oven, below.

If there was ever a final motif of Röyksopp, it was their ability to make the risky and surreal sound simple.
