Savages and Sufjan Stevens are still squabbling about fonts
Jehnny Beth has banned Stevens from her Beats 1 radio show after he dissed the italics on the cover of ‘Silence Yourself’

Three years on from Sufjan Stevens’ infamous ‘font-diss’ towards Savages, Jehnny Beth is still holding a grudge. She’s banned the musician from her Beats 1 radio show.
Back in 2013, Sufjan Stevens penned a lengthy Tumblr post, explaining in vast detail his disdain for Savages’ use of italics on their artwork for ‘Silence Yourself’. “The very cool Savages have allowed a very uncool typographical blunder on their LP cover,” he said. “Who the fraggle designed this?” He later added “I will never forgive your awkward italics.”
Not one to hold a drawn out grudge at all, Jehnny Beth rejected a listener’s request for her to play ‘Impossible Soul’ from Sufjan Stevens’ 2010 album ‘The Age Of Adz’ last night (5th July).
“I remember when my first record with Savages came out,” explained Beth on air. “He wrote quite a funny blog post about how much he hated our album cover. He went into quite extensive detail – the font, everything. It was cute, especially as I was looking at his own album covers. Hmm. I must say, I wasn’t really very impressed.
