School of Seven Bells stream final album ‘SVIIB’

The project’s farewell album was completed following the tragic passing of the duo’s Benjamin Curtis.

School of Seven Bells are streaming their album ‘SVIIB’ in full ahead of its release on 26th February. The duo had almost completed the record together when Benjamin Curtis tragically passed away in 2013 after a battle with a rare form of leukemia. Alejandra Deheza later finished the album alone, and it stands as a final goodbye. Speaking about the record in an interview with DIY, Alejandra said that she felt a “a sense of urgency to tell our story,” in releasing ‘SVIIB’. She added that, though she didn’t necessarily realise it during the writing process, many of the songs are very obviously about her bandmate, and “it was just a love letter to him, pretty much.” “Packed with brilliance, ambition and warmth, ‘SVIIB’ may be the full stop on the band’s work together, but it’s an album that will stand as the perfect goodbye,” wrote DIY’s own Sarah Jamieson, in our album review.
