Self Esteem unveils plans for third album ‘A Complicated Woman’
Rebecca Lucy Taylor has ushered in the start of her next era with the soaring new single ‘Focus Is Power’.

Self Esteem - the powerhouse musical project of Rebecca Lucy Taylor - is well and truly back. The pop provocateur has announced that her anticipated third album will be entitled ‘A Complicated Woman’, and will arrive on 25th April via Polydor Records.
The follow-up to her 2021 breakthrough hit ‘Prioritise Pleasure’, the new LP promises to be an exuberant, multi-faceted exploration of modern womanhood, bolstered by the voices of a majority female choir (including friends, bandmates, and collaborators of Rebecca’s, such as Nadine Shah, Moonchild Sanelly, and actress Julie Hesmondhalgh - perhaps best known as Corrie legend Haley Cropper).
“I want you to hear and feel the connection,” RLT has said of the choir’s inclusion, describing it as “a community of people” - something that comes through in earnest in the video for the album’s soaring lead single ‘Focus Is Power’, which sees the group give an impassioned performance in a local community hall.
Built around a phrase Rebecca wrote while living with her parents during the pandemic, the new track is something of a mantra, a mission statement for the album as a whole: “You see, it wasn’t up to me but now it could be / But now I see it clear with every passing of each year / I deserve to be here”.
