Shura shares a video for single ‘Indecision’
New visual is a treatment of gender and sexuality questions.
Shura has shared a video for her latest single ‘Indecision’, following her nomination for BBC Sound of 2015. Directed by Emily McDonald and Nev Brook, the video features the same actors and actresses from her ‘Touch’ video, some of which play a part in the club night scene of the video. In unison with ‘Touch’, Shura keeps her role in the visual to a minimum, allowing the narrative of the track to be played out by others.
The video provides questions about sexuality, gender and identity, which Shura says are “open to interpretation”. It follows a young London male travelling to a female friend’s flat bearing gifts. What follows is a trip to a nightclub with the male dressed in female clothing, partying alongside Shura and others before the video ends.
Speaking to Dazed, Shura has confirmed that she is currently finishing her debut album, stating that she does not feel rushed despite signing to a major label:
“If it needs to be a bit longer then so be it. I’m not going to try and get something out just to get a Mercury nomination… I was excited about maybe bringing in a big producer, but the longer it’s gone on I’ve just thought ‘fuck it’, - there’s time to work with a big producer and right now I want to do it myself and see what happens. Worst case is it’s a pile of shit and no one buys it. If it all goes tits up I’ll call Timbaland for the next one.”
