Solidarity Not Silence release Kathleen Hanna-featuring ‘This Is Sisterhood’
The track is raising both awareness and funds for a legal defence.
Solidarity Not Silence - a group formed by The Tuts and Petrol Girls’ Ren Aldridge, and featuring contributions from across the DIY punk community - have released track ‘This Is Sisterhood’ featuring Kathleen Hanna to raise awareness of and funds for their legal defence in a defamation suit.
The case involves a group of women - including Nadia of The Tuts and Ren - fighting a defamation claim after they spoke up against their accuser’s alleged abuse of women. It follows their previously-launched crowdfunder.
“At the end of the day, we’re musicians not lawyers,” the group say. “We can’t fight this case without the help of our lawyers, but what we can do, is use our skills and resources as musicians to tell our story, and build the momentum that we need to expand our fundraising campaign and keep covering our legal costs.”
