Bikini Kill become latest band to postpone reunion tour dates due to coronavirus
“We take the health and safety of our supporters, crew and opening bands very seriously”
Bikini Kill have become the latest band to postpone upcoming tour dates due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
The recently reunited trio were due to head out on a US reunion tour, set to begin tomorrow (13th March) in Olympia, Washington.
They’ve now announced that they’re postponing all their scheduled tour dates in the Northwest region of the United States.
“We take the health and safety of our supporters, crew and opening bands very seriously, and given the situation in Seattle as well as the lack of information about the actual infection rate of the surrounding areas, it doesn’t make sense for us to go forward with any of the shows in the region,” they said in a statement posted to Twitter.
The band also used the message to invite fans to donate to the Interfaith Works Emergency Overnight Shelter, the charity that their Olympia shows were set to raise money for.
Their tour will resume in May with another US leg beginning in Silver Spring, Maryland, before the band play a host of European festivals including Primavera and Øya.
Iggy Pop today became the latest artist to cancel gigs because of the coronavirus outbreak. Yesterday, Bombay Bicycle Club pulled their imminent European tour, and My Chemical Romance have now announced that they’re postponing their upcoming Japanese tour.
