Sweet Baboo, Neon Neon Among Welsh Music Prize Nominees

The nominations for this year’s Welsh Music Prize - celebrating all things Welsh and in music, naturally - have been announced. A list of 12 artists includes Gruff Rhys’ Neon Neon project and Moshi Moshi signings Sweet Baboo (pictured).

Last year’s winner was Future of the Left for their ‘The Plot Against Common Sense’ album. Gruff Rhys was the recipient of the first year’s prize, for ‘Hotel Shampoo’.

A panel of 100 people were chosen to whittle down the shortlist.

Co-founder of the prize, John Rostron, said: ‘It’s wonderful that the Welsh Music Prize has begun to help acts from Wales reach new international audiences.’

The winner will be announced on the opening day of Swn festival, 17th October, at a ceremony in Kuku Club, Cardiff.

Euros Childs – Summer Special
