Tall Ships: ‘The Vibe At Festivals When You Play Is Incredible’
It’s almost time for Truck 2012, so we figured we’d have a quick chat with a couple of the acts to be gracing this year’s bill.

It’s almost time for Truck 2012, so we figured we’d have a quick chat with a couple of the acts to be gracing this year’s bill. Time for some Tall Ships.
Hello! How’re you doing, and what’ve you been up to recently?
Hey hey! Good, thank you. We’ve been incredibly busy making music videos of family members walking out into rough seas. Finalising album artwork with our good friend Harriet Bridgwater. Rehearsing hard for our string of summer festivals. Basically working hard in preparation for the release of our debut album ‘Everything Touching’…
How’re you feeling about playing this year’s Truck Festival?
EXCITED. We’ve heard it talked about a lot so really looking to playing it for the first time.
How do you go about preparing for a festival set, in comparison to a regular show?
It starts with the really arduous task of deciding which friends we’ll put down as crew. Then we pack our tents and boots, go to a supermarket and stock up on bread, noodles and beer. Then we have a weekend away camping with the inconvenience (an incredibly enjoyable one mind) of playing a few songs.
What’re your favourite parts about playing festivals, and what do you absolutely hate?
The vibe at festivals when you play is incredible. Everyone is so so loose and up for a good time, so the show is always is a lot of fun. It’s harder to find things which we hate. Ahhh, we played one last year when our gear broke. That wasn’t fun. Ohh and waking up in a tent with three other people all covered in your own sick. That ain’t fun either.
Is there anyone you’re particularly looking forward to seeing at this year’s Truck?
65 Days Of Static and Three Trapped Tigers. Those guys are epic. Looking forward to seeing their electronic wizardry in a field.
It’s Truck’s fifteenth birthday this year - first of all, how do you plan on making sure everyone at Truck is celebrating adequately, and secondly, do you remember how you celebrated your fifteenth birthday?
Errrr we’ll play a greatest hits set. All the hits back to back. And not exactly, but it probably involved skateboarding during the day and then later, at a friend’s mum’s house singing along to ‘The Vertigo of Bliss’ and drinking Castlemaine xxxx
What’re your plans for post-festival season?
Finally releasing our ALBUM and thus doubling our amount of released songs. Its called ‘Everything Touching’. It’s out on the 08/10/12 and we’ll be touring it hard throughout October.
Tall Ships play The Barn on Saturday 21st July at this year’s Truck Festival.
