Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker performed at an Australian protest gig

The gig was in opposition to a new road extension near Perth.

Earlier this week, a number of acts played at LIVE! In The Wetlands, an Australian protest gig, and Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker made a sneaky appearance.

The LIVE! In The Wetlands gig was a protest against Roe 8, a planned highway extension that is intended to reduce traffic congestion around Perth’s southern suburbs. Construction has already begun with government approval, but the plans have been met with great opposition, with protestors believing that Roe 8 is both economically and environmentally harmful.

Among the acts who appeared at the gig were Donna Simpson of The Waifs and hip hop outfit Koi Child (Kevin produced their debut album last year). A couple of audience members caught the moment when Kevin took to the stage, performing under the name DJ Defs Worth It. Guess this is how he’ll be spending some of his time off now Tame Impala are taking a break.
