The Walkmen To Go On ‘Extreme Hiatus’
Peter Bauer is pursuing his own solo work, declaring that The Walkmen aren’t officially breaking up.

Bad news for The Walkmen fans. The New York group aren’t looking to be making any more music anytime soon. After shows in Washington this weekend and Philadelphia this week, bassist Peter Bauer claims the band have no plans to continue.
They’re not officially ‘breaking up’. But this is definitely a hiatus. An ‘extreme hiatus’, according to Bauer in an interview with the Washington Post.
‘I don’t think any of us wanted to write another Walkmen record. Maybe that will change down the line, maybe it won’t, maybe we’ll play shows,’ he explained to Rudi Greenberg.
Bauer’s quotes come amid the announcement of a new solo album, ‘Liberation!’, which is yet to pick up a release date. Walkmen drummer Matt Barrick is involved in the record and its accompanying shows.
The Walkmen have been together for 14 years. Their most recent album, ‘Heaven’, came out in March 2012.
