There’s “no Glasto this year” for The Strokes

The band respond to festival-goers’ suggestions that they’d be at Worthy Farm.

Despite being announced earlier this week as a ‘UK Festival Exclusive’ for BST Hyde Park this June, there was apparently still ‘a lot of chatter’ about The Strokes potentially featuring at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

But, as the band were quick to point out on Twitter, the iconic New Yorkers wouldn’t be taking to Worthy Farm this year.

“For those kindly asking,” they wrote yesterday afternoon, “nopes, no Glasto’ this year!”

The band will play Hyde Park as part of Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time on 18th June, joined by Beck, Future Islands, Hinds, The Wytches, Gengahr and more. Tickets are on sale from 9am tomorrow (6th March).

The other artists confirmed to headline the central London events are Blur, Kylie, The Who and Taylor Swift.

Glastonbury, meanwhile, is to feature a headline set from Foo Fighters, plus Lionel Richie, Courtney Barnett and Father John Misty have also been confirmed to play at the Somerset festival, which takes place between 24th and 28th June 2015.
