Pushing your luck
Tom Vek announces new single and October tour
The tour will culminate with a date at London’s Koko.
Tom Vek will release another single from his recent album ‘Luck’ this autumn: ‘Pushing Your Luck’ will come out on 25th August. He’ll follow the release with an October tour, kicking off in Falmouth and culminating with a date at London’s Koko.
Tom also has a number of festivals planned for over the summer, including Latitude next week - for which DIY is an official partner, keep an eye out for the mag onsite - Split Festival, Y Not and Festival No. 6.
“I’ve never really wanted to use lyrics to say something directly to someone or something,” he explained earlier this year, speaking of his new material. “If you want to limit a political message to a genre, that’s never going to be successful.
“I’m a huge Rage Against The Machine fan, I sang along to those lyrics but it didn’t spur me into being a political activist, which is no criticism of it at all. Wanting to go into an empty room and just shout, there’s a cathartic element to that but I wouldn’t say I’d want to see a direct result from that in a song.”
His forthcoming dates are as follows:
October
03 Falmouth, Pavilions
04 Oxford, The Art Bar
06 Portsmouth, Wedgewood Rooms
07 Brighton, The Haunt
08 Manchester, Gorilla
09 Glasgow, King Tuts
11 Leeds, Cockpit
12 Liverpool, Kazimier
14 Nottingham, Bodega
15 London, Koko
