Trangressive announce 15th anniversary celebrations

The label have announced a special compilation album, loads of limited edition rereleases and a rare Johnny Flynn solo set at Rough Trade East.

Record label legends Transgressive are turning 15 in style with loads of exciting events planned. After takeovers at The Great Escape, Glastonbury and Reading and Leeds, they’re continuing the party and brining us all along for the ride.

First up, they’re creating a special compilation album, ‘Transgressive Is 15’, featuring 15 songs from 15 of the label’s roster including SOPHIE, Flume, Songhoy Blues, Julia Jacklin, Let’s Eat Grandma, Foals, Blaenavon, Hippo Campus, Cosmo Sheldrake plus brand new signings such as Arlo Parks, KOKOKO!, Julien Chang, Benny Mails, Boniface and Calpurnia, that’ll be available from select independent music stores across the world.

Rough Trade have also made Transgressive its Label Focus and will be doing a series of exclusive special releases that we’ll be able to snap up in their two London stores, Nottingham, Bristol, and New York. The list of releases includes a 300-only pressing of the first four Foals albums on limited edition cassette format - 2008’s ‘Antidotes’, 2010’s ‘Total Life Forever’, 2013’s ‘Holy Fire’ and 2015’s ‘What Went Down’ - and a covers 7” from Calpurnia which includes their reworks of Weezer’s ‘Say It Ain’t So’ and Pixies’ ‘Where Is My Mind’.

Johnny Flynn’s first two albums - ‘A Larum’ and ‘Been Listening’ - are also being repressed for the first time since their release, and to celebrate Johnny will be playing a rare one-off solo-set at Rough Trade East on 18th October! We’re not crying, you’re crying.

Keep up to date with all the celebration plans here.
