U2 To Work With One Direction Songwriters

U2 set to work with One Direction songwriter Carl Falk on next record.

According to reports from The Sun, U2 have set their sights on Swedish pop guru Carl Falk after the band admitted they ‘needed to write some big-selling tunes in order to survive’ back in October.

Carl Falk recently worked with One Direction, and has also penned hits for the likes of Nicki Minaj, Backstreet Boys, and Nicole Scherzinger of Pussycat Dolls.

With One Direction-mania sweeping the US, The Sun’s anonymous source says that Bono & Co. are keen to emulate the Simon Cowell signed band’s success, claiming; ‘Will.i.am had a credit on [the band’s last album ‘No Line On The Horizon’] and they are looking to explore that direction further. They have been working with Dangermouse and Redone. They are excited about getting to work with Carl Falk.’

Meanwhile, Falk himself let slip about the speculation: ‘There’s a long way to go but we are doing something with U2.’

It seems unlikely that Bono is aiming for the same market as poster boys One Direction - it’s tricky to imagine U2 on the walls of lovestruck teenage girls after all - but with One Direction becoming the first UK band to get a number 1 debut album in the US, it seems that U2 might well want a slice of the success.
