Watch Foxygen showcase ‘Cannibal Holocaust’ and ‘Hang’ on KEXP
New tracks are taken from the band’s ultra-ambitious double album, ‘… And Star Power’.
Ahead of the release of their new double album, ‘… And Star Power’, Foxygen arrived at the KEXP studios to perform three tracks, two of which haven’t been heard before.
Sam France and Jonathan Rado ran through lead single ‘How Can You Really’, plus new numbers ‘Cannibal Holocaust’ and ‘Hang’. The latter is a strung out and stoned number that gradually unravels to show a distinct ‘70s influence. ‘Cannibal Holocaust’ sounds like a swansong in itself, and it’s the penultimate track on the second “suite” of the new record.
‘… And Star Power’ is separated into two discs and four suites. The band explained the record to DIY last month, with Rado saying “within the record there’s a range of songs. Some are a minute long, some eight minutes. ‘How Can You Really’ is the first song on the record. We sort of invite the listener in. And then it deviates into something else and deviates into something else again.”
Last month they showcased the track ‘Can’t Contextualize My Mind’ during a show in Seattle.
