Watch: Maximo Park Unveil New Single, ‘Leave This Island’

Rinsing their excitable sound in a synth-heavy wash of new ideas, Maximo Park are truly a very different band to the one that released 2012’s ‘The National Health’.

If musical curveball ‘Brain Cells’ wasn’t enough of an indication that Paul Smith and co. were headed somewhere different, ‘Leave This Island’ confirms the transformation in spades. Smith’s vocals are muted, detached from the bombast that defined his band’s early records. He’s backed by a rich, pad-centric swirl of noise, and some melancholic humming to boot.

The new single is released as a 12’, backed by B-side ‘A Vague Implication’ and a Mogwai remix of the lead track.
