Waxahatchee previews new song from third album
Katie Crutchfield’s next effort is due this year.
Waxahatchee has revealed the first snippet of material from her forthcoming third full-length album.
In a video posted on her Tumblr page, just under a minute of a new song, presumably set for inclusion on the new record, is showcased in a post celebrating the singer’s 26th birthday, entitled ‘happy birthday to me+you’. The clip shows Crutchfield ditching the guitar and opting for thudding keyboards.
Crutchfield recently announced she has signed to Merge Records for the new album in North America, while Wichita Recordings, who gave 2013’s ‘Cerulean Salt’ a worldwide release, will be responsible for the album outside the States. Although no release date has yet been confirmed, the post says to expect more news “real soon” and the video ends with the message: “Waxahatchee: new album coming in 2015”.
Waxahatchee is to preview her new album with two shows in one night at London’s St. Pancras Church as part of a short European tour at the end of January.
The singer was last in the UK in October of 2013. Read the DIY review of the show at London’s Scala here.
