We Are The Ocean: “It’s really important that we give our everything for the fans”

We Are The Ocean are confident that the wait will be worth it, when they play this weekend’s Dr Martens’ #STANDFORSOMETHING show.

It’s been a while since We Are The Ocean last headed out on the road, but with their current UK tour plans, and their appearance on the Dr Martens’ #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour, things are all set to change. That’s not to say they’ve not been working hard; whilst they may not have toured in almost a year, they have been working on a brand new album.

“It will have been nearly a year since we played a live show in October,” admits the band’s Liam Cromby. “In that time we’ve spent a lot of time writing and crafting new sounds which has been great but there’s nothing quite like the experience of being on stage. It’s been hard but it’ll be worth the wait.”

As for what they have been spending most of their waking hours focusing on… “We’ve been in Middle Farm Studios all summer recording new music which has been one of the craziest experiences of our musical careers,” Cromby reveals. “We’re always looking to explore new sounds with writing; we demoed over twenty songs and I really can’t wait for everyone to hear what we’ve been up to. Since then, we’ve come home and gone straight into the practise rooms. With our headline tour in October, we want to make it the best WATO tour to date with old and some new songs, and maybe a cover or two. After taking a year out it’s really important to us that we come back and give our everything for the fans.”

Predictably, when it comes to their show at The Shipping Forecast, the band can’t wait to get things going. “I’m really looking forward to playing the show,” Cromby says. “Small intimate shows are some of my favourite to play just because it’s just you and the fans: no flashing lights or giant banners, just the music.”

We Are The Ocean will play the Liverpool leg of the Dr. Martens’ #STANDFORSOMETHING Tour in association with DIY on 25th October, supported by Arcane Roots.
