We Are The Physics perform God Help The Girl track

The band enlist co-star Pierre Boulanger for a live performance of the Stuart Murdoch-penned track.

We Are The Physics perform 'Kissing in the Red Zone' from God Help The Girl

God Help The Girl’, the movie written and directed by Belle & Sebastian’s Stuart Murdoch is gradually getting its worldwide release, with a string of UK screenings scheduled for the middle of next month.

And, following the news that a re-recorded version of the soundtrack is to be released featuring the film’s cast itself - including Years & Years’ Olly Alexander, no less, alongside fellow actors Emily Browning and Hannah Murray - Glasgow band We Are The Physics, who also feature in the movie, have shared their contribution.

The quartet play the post-punk band of character Anton, played by French actor Pierre Boulanger. At a gig in the city following the end of filming back in 2012, they invited Boulanger on stage for a rendition of the Murdoch-penned number they perform in the film, ‘Kissing in the Red Zone’ - footage of which they’ve shared online today (27th July).

We Are The Physics released second album, ‘Your Friend, The Atom’, back in October 2012.

‘God Help The Girl’ will be shown across the UK and Ireland on 16th August via satellite from Edinburgh. A list of participating cinemas can be found on their website. View the trailer below.
