Really though...

What the actual hell is going on in the new Bastille video?

The band have revealed their clip for ‘Torn Apart’ and it’s a bit, well, fucking weird.

What the actual hell is going on in the new Bastille video?

Bastille are gearing up to release their new mixtape ‘VS. (Other People’s Heartache, Pt. III)’ very shortly and in the meantime, they’ve unveiled a new video for lead single ‘Torn Apart’.

The only thing is… Their new clip is bloody strange. Starting out like some kind of Benneton-meets-Dove advert, complete with admissions of exactly what the video’s characters think love is (“Love is two machine guns, mounted on a goat” and “It doesn’t matter if you love yourself, or the muppets” are just two highlights), it soon transpires into utter-batshit territory.

As the video unfolds, each of the two central characters transforms into another. Lulling viewers into the sense that this is just yet another politically-correct, slightly racy representation of the dimensions of a relationship, that all changes as Sloth from the Goonies appears and all kinds of crazy gets let loose.

Don’t worry: Dan Smith does make an appearance, it’s not during the slightly bizarre bedroom scene, phew! He’s on the ol’ telly box, which soon gets transformed into a toilet. Like you do.

Before you watch the clip - directed by Keith Schofield - you should prepare yourselves and scroll down our frame-by-frame commentary.
