Young Fathers win Scottish Album of the Year with ‘Tape Two’

Edinburgh trio beat Chvrches and Mogwai to a prize of £20,000.

Young Fathers have been awarded this year’s Scottish Album of the Year, for 2013’s ‘Tape Two’ release.

The release arrived ahead of their 2014 full-length ‘Dead’ - at the time, it was technically declared to be a mini-album / EP, but it was eligible for inclusion in a shortlist that also featured Chvrches, Mogwai and Boards of Canada.

A prize of £20,000 was awarded to the band as courtesy of Creative Scotland.

“‘Tape Two’ is an extraordinary album and a deserving winner,” said Stewart Henderson, Chair of the Scottish Music Industry Association (SMIA).
