For better or for worse, each summer brings a new anthem: a song that captivates the hearts, and beer gardens, of the nation for a few months - often disappearing just as fast as it blew up. It’s a fickle little ritual, but there’s no one better than Basement Jaxx - a veritable national treasure - to deliver us with the sound of summer 09.
‘Raindrops’ has it all: an addictive hook, dreamy vocals and huge beats. As the pulsing introduction builds into a speaker-blasting stonker designed to make you enjoy boozy garden parties even more, it’s obvious that we’ve found our anthem. Sure, we’ll be sick of it after a few weeks, but for now we might as well embrace it.
