Little Boots - Business Pleasure

Little Boots’ next chapter is going to be her most exciting and daring yet.

Little Boots - Business Pleasure

“You think I’m pretty, well I can be pretty tough. Push me a little. I can get a little rough.” This is the assertive and confrontational message that concludes ‘Business Pleasure’. Serving as a preview to her upcoming third album, Little Boots clearly has a few things to prove.

From the titles of ‘Business Pleasure’ and ‘Pretty Tough’ through the lyrical content nestled within and across the arching musical contrast that floats from beginning to end, ‘Business Pleasure’ is a colourful and daring marriage of opposing ideas.

Opening with the minimalist bubblegum of ‘Taste It’, think Lorde come Lily Allen and leading into the menacing nineties trance of ‘Heroine’, Little Boots wastes no time in pushing herself further than ever before. The facedown shuffle of the title track quickly follows before the sparse heartbeat of ‘Pretty Tough’ falls away to give Little Boots’ dreamlike vocals room to soar.

Individually, the songs present more questions than answers, both about Victoria Hesketh and the world in which she operates, but collectively ‘Business Pleasure’ draws a defiant line in the sand. Little Boots’ next chapter is going to be her most exciting and daring yet. You can almost Taste It.
