Sarah Kinsley - Fleeting

Another rich, powerful offering that proves her prowess as a voice in pop.

Sarah Kinsley - Fleeting

Eighteen months on from the release of her evocative debut, New York’s Sarah Kinsley has returned with a follow-up that matches the heart of her previous work, whilst continuing to broaden her musical horizons. While 2024’s ‘Escaper’ saw her transform her classical upbringing into a broad collection of tracks that felt to match their emotional core with sweeping arrangements and ambitious scope, across ‘Fleeting’, she hones further in on a neon-hued, dance-pop mood. The EP’s midpoint - the gorgeous ‘Reverie’ and Paris Paloma-featuring ‘After All’ - does take a more luscious detour, built from piano before morphing into something altogether grander on both occasions. But it’s the ’80s-tinted synths of ‘Lonely Touch’ and sparkling pop beats of the EP’s title track that create most of the atmosphere here, with ‘Fleeting’ itself sounding somewhat like a spiritual sibling to Robyn’s ‘Dancing On My Own’. Another rich, powerful offering that proves her prowess as a voice in pop.
