Savoir Adore - Dreamers

Savoir Adore’s winning way with a pop melody make ‘Dreamers’ a slight cut above.

Brooklyn duo Savoir Adore describe their sound as ‘Fantasy pop’, and while that may be a slightly tedious concocted term you can certainly hear how they arrived at it on their latest EP ‘Dreamers’.

‘Dreamers’ trails their forthcoming second album and it finds the duo of Paul Hammer and Deidre Muro on soft, lilting form. The title track is a quite lovely blend of light and airy electro disco imbued with a wispy charm and gracefulness. Floating away gently at its own pace, the combination of Hammer’s croon and Muro’s breathy sigh works extremely well giving an endearing dreamy vibe. There are direct echoes of other exponents of a similar washed out sound of blissful indie electro like Kisses, but Savoir Adore’s winning way with a pop melody make it a slight cut above.

The other new track on the EP, ‘Sea Of Gold’ is rather more understated but no less appealing. Jittery beats underpin a track that gently progresses into a wave of drum rolls and hazy guitar. The rest of the EP is rather disappointingly filled out with five largely superfluous remixes of the title track, the best being Xaphoon Jones’ stripped back minimal take and French Horn Rebellion’s re-edit transforming the track into a funked up swing. The abundance of remixes though do not detract from two new songs of impressive quality that promise much ahead of their new album.
