Keeping yr ears open after the first minute may be difficult. And it isn’t because Oasis have churned out yet another similar sounding piece of fluff from their fraternal hit-factory. No, really, it isn’t. Because well, at least the first track off ‘Dig Your Soul’ had a (admittedly still quite dull) version of what we call gusto.
Unfortunately, all the Liam Gallagher penned ‘I’m Outta Time’ has got is a dirgey chorus and a way sub-Elbow bash at thoughtful lyricism. A mid song instrumental, plucked out with a surprisingly light touch, might trickle through your briefly re-popened cochlea but it’s hardly implanting itself on the memory.
Going for poignancy but with none of the passion we’re hoping they ditch the mysterious façade and bring back the parka. If only so DIY can go on whinging with our wits intact.
