Poppy & The Jezebels - Rhubarb & Custard

As inoffensive as you get and at the same time utterly charming.

With a name like Poppy & The Jezebels you’d be forgiven for mistaking these young Birmingham hipsters for one of the Geldof Girls (Peaches and Pickle were already taken); luckily, citing Blondie, Madonna and the Spice Girls as their influences, these girls have learned from the masters and created a pretty perfect pop number.

As inoffensive as you get, ‘Rhubarb & Custard’ is at the same time utterly charming. Think Bananarama in uniforms. Matched vocals and one hell of a catchy chorus weaves it’s nest in the membrane, there it remains pop at it’s freshest and finest.
