Sometimes it’s the simplest sentiments in songs that can mean the world to those who listen to them. ‘Best Friend’ from Tashaki Miyaki has one of those timeless ideals that does little more than warm the heart.
To some it will sound completely un-original and far too harmless but those who get it will really get into it. Its simple, guitar strumming fun with sweet undertones in the lyrics. It can be imagined to soundtrack the next Juno-style film as perfect indie film fodder.
‘Tonight’ isn’t a great leap forward from the same template as ‘Best Friend’ but provides another short and sweet thrill. Fans of Best Coast should check out the country twang of Tashaki Miyaki’s loveable indie.
