False Advertising document their SXSW adventure in the video for ‘It’s Been A While (So Sick)’

We’ve got the first look at the clip capturing their time in Austin, where they played DIY’s showcase among other sets.

“We’re False Advertising and this is our first ever international gig,” the garage punks say at the beginning of the video for ‘It’s Been A While (So Sick).’

Well if you’re going to smash a first gig out of the park beyond British borders you might as well do it at SXSW! The Manchester lot slayed DIY’s own showcase out in Austin and put in some other mammoth performances during the festival. Now that time has been rightfully preserved and documented in their brand new video for their latest searing single.

The track itself is part of The Warren Project’s ‘Three Minute Heroes’ album, a Hull-based scheme where young people anonymously submitted lyrics to the bands participating, who’d then turn them into a track. It’s fitting then that as the track showcases young people making their first steps into the world of writing lyrics, the video shows off a first for False Advertising too.

The DIY clip shows them at their best playing at the various blinding sets (spot the DIY Showcase in there!), and what they got up to in-between times (including eating some rather tasty looking food). And yeah, they do indeed make it look ‘So Sick.’

Talking about the resulting video in a statement, Jen said: “We made this video using footage from our time in SXSW, to show that having self-belief can actually get you pretty far. We’re a completely DIY band and we’d only ever dreamed we’d have been able to do something as bold as go play in America a few months ago. Work hard and have confidence and you’ll get to do some cool stuff.” Strong advice!
