Adele returns with ‘Hello’ single

Adele has finally returned with her first music since the multi-million selling ’21’ (a niche record, in the grand scheme of things).

‘Hello’ is the lead single from third LP ’25’, which comes out 20th November. Speaking to BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw, Adele said the new album has been finished for “a bit”, but was only recently mastered. Listen to the first play and her first interview below.

Speaking to Zane Lowe on Beats 1 later on this morning, Adele mentioned the 30 second telly ad ‘Hello’ launched with. “Yeah I was watching it with my family. But it freaked me out. I’ve been sitting on an album for quite a while.”

Streaming below, the single’s video was shot in the Montreal countryside by Canadian director Xavier Dolan. It’s a grey and gloomy piece, but the song itself is an instant reminder that Adele’s a bit bloody good at emotional ballads.

Look out for ‘When We Were Young’, once the album lands. It’s the one she wrote with Tobias Jesso Jr., described as: “My favourite human being, other than my friends and family.”
