Billie Joe Armstrong has appeared in a deleted scene from the new Judd Apatow film, ‘This Is 40’, which also features a cameo appearance from Ryan Adams.
The Green Day frontman plays a fictional version of himself, presenting a new idea to record label executive played by Paul Rudd. The summary of Armstrong’s ‘ambitious’ project goes as follows: “Have you heard of Norwegian death metal? I thought of taking that, and mixing it with Belle and Sebastian. It’s the sort of music you can cry to - but also burn a church down at the same time. I kinda want it to sound like two radios going off at the same time in a white supremacist’s car.”
The film will open in February 2013 in the UK, with Green Day returning to the UK gig circuit next summer after Billie Joe has completed his rehab stint.
