Bring Me The Horizon reunite with original guitarist Curtis Ward for ‘Pray For Plagues’

The first live airing of the track since 2011 saw the band bury the hatchet with the ex-member.

Warming up for tonight’s mammoth (and sold out) Wembley Arena show, on Wednesday Bring Me The Horizon took to the somewhat smaller stage of Camden’s Underworld. While they looked towards an astronomical future, the group took a little time to reminisce on the old days with the first live rendition of fan-favourite ‘Pray For Plagues’ from the band’s debut album ‘Count Your Blessings’, and an old face in the form of former guitarist and founding member Curtis Ward, who came on stage to play the track.

“When we started this band it were five of us,” announced frontman Oli Sykes on stage. “It’s not anymore, it’s different, but a lot changes over the years and we wanna do something special. We want to play you a song that you guys have been asking for us to play for a long time. This is the only way we’re going to play it. So give a round of applause for Curtis Ward, please. This song’s called ‘Pray For Plagues’.”

Ward left the band in 2009, citing those pesky “personal differences” as the reason. It’s been a rocky road since then, with the song ‘Blacklist’ from their 2010 album ‘There Is A Hell, Believe Me I’ve Seen It. There Is A Heaven, Let’s Keep It A Secret’ being written about the split. “We started this together, and it should have stuck, but there’s no room for a useless, miserable fuck” went Sykes’ lyrics to that particular number, so I think it’s fair to say it was pretty acrimonious. Check out a video of the reunion below.
