It's gettin' hot in here
Damon Albarn shares ‘Sister Rust’ track, blames heat on lack of a Blur album
He’s also just announced a date at the London Royal Albert Hall.
With Latitude headline slots and a debut solo album to wrestle with, Damon Albarn’s still finding time to make slightly more low-key contributions to new music.
Not that his latest, ‘Sister Rust’, isn’t stamped with a big deal, Hollywood stamp of approval. It appears in the soundtrack for new Scarlett Johansson-film ‘Lucy’, which is out now in cinemas. Original music comes from Eric Serra, but this playful, flute-filled number is a welcome addition.
Elsewhere in the world of Damon, he recently told NME that the long-awaited new Blur album might take a little more time, due to obvious hazardous weather conditions. “There was too much commuting between where we were staying and where we were recording and it was a bit too hot,” he said, of recent sessions in Hong Kong. He did however confirm that they’d recorded 15 new songs, with Damon’s lyrics the only part lacking.
He’s also just announced a date at the London Royal Albert Hall. He’ll play on 15th November, with tickets available here from Friday 1st August at 9am.
