Disclosure and their various collaborators may have had a small shock upon opening this weekend’s morning papers, only to find they are being sued over the alleged theft of lyrics.

In a story broken by the Mail On Sunday, songwriter Katie Farrah Sopher claims that Disclosure’s megahits ‘White Noise’, ‘Latch’ and ‘You and Me’ include lyrical content taken from her personal songbook, which features material inspired by a “toxic” five year relationship with accused Sean Sawyers. It is claimed that Sawyers was ‘violent’ to Sopher, before stealing the songbook and selling it on to music industry contacts. Sopher is claiming £200,000 in damages.

In addition to the accusations towards her ex-boyfriend, Sopher is also personally suing Disclosure and their collaborators on the three tracks, Sam Smith, AlunaGeorge and Eliza Doolittle. On top of that, Sopher also lays claim to lyrical content in AlunaGeorge’s ‘Attracting Flies’. According to the Mail On Sunday, all artists involved in the case declined to comment. Sawyer denies all allegations and says he’s never seen the book in question.

Listen to Disclosure and AlunaGeorge’s ‘White Noise’ below, which it is alleged features Sopher’s lyrical references to Sean Sawyers’ physical abuse.
