Esben and the Witch share howling new track ‘The Wolf’s Sun’

The track is from their brand new album ‘Older Terrors’.

Two years on from their last album ‘A New Nature,’ Brighton-via-Berlin rock trio Esben and the Witch return with their latest LP ‘Older Terrors’ on 4th November. Having already shared the 13-minute slow-burner ‘Sylvan,’ they’re dragging us even further into their darkened realm (not a euphemism) with new track ‘The Wolf’s Sun.’

When ‘Older Terrors’ was announced, the band said that the album would be “dedicated to the sublime. To Edward Young’s Night Thoughts, John Martin’s apocalyptic visions, Caspar David Friedrich’s forays into the forest and to the sparks of light that glimmer in times of utter darkness.” Right then.

If that all sounds a bit romantic, rest assured that this is no ‘Pride and Prejudice.’ ‘The Wolf’s Sun’ is split into different movements, each one more maniacal and filled with crushing riffs than the last. By the end of the 11 minutes, Rachel Davies really starts to sound like she’s howling at the moon. Or maybe in this case, the sun.
