Esben And The Witch Start PledgeMusic Fund, Share New Material

Band explain their decision to split with Matador was a mutual one” - they’re working with Steve Albini on a new LP.”

After parting ways with Matador (the label behind their first two albums), Brighton group Esben and the Witch are turning to self-sufficiency to release their new LP, all with a little help from fans willing to part with their cash.

The band have started recording with Steve Albini, but they’ve set up a PledgeMusic fund ‘to support this adventure.’ The songs are ready, the studio booked, but they need some dollar to seal the deal, basically.

The new music we have written has become an exploration first and foremost of what we can create while locked away in a small room with just our instruments for company,’ reads a statement within the fund page.

On their decision to move away from Matador, the band state that ‘the decision was a mutual one with no ill feeling; we both felt that our futures lay apart.

We have wanted to set up a label of our own for a while, so when this opportunity arose, ideas began to crystallise, cogs began turning and the wheels rolled, gradually, into motion.’

Anyone willing to donate $5,000 receives an executive producer credit. Donate here. And listen below to songs making up a new split 7’ EP with Thought Forms.
