Fake Laugh airs new track, ‘As I Get To Know You Better’
Song appears on a new Rough Trade compilation, ‘80N7’, which features Sunboy and Spring King.
Kamran Khan’s Fake Laugh project is schooled in the same charms as Mac DeMarco et al’s stoned and starving routine, but there’s also some genuine big truths being projected in his latest track, ‘As I Get To Know You Better’.
Romantic to the point where it’s basically fluttering its eyebrows, the song’s about falling more and more in love with a certain someone. As a lyric, “if you go, I’ll probably go with you,” is about the closest Khan’s going to come to writing a love letter.
The song features on a new EP, ‘Freely’ (pre-order), which is coming out on Khan’s new label Violent Tapes (run alongside a member of Lovepark). It’s also the lead in a new Rough Trade compilation which features Happyness, Spring King and Sunboy. It’s called ‘80N7’ and it’s limited to 150 copies, released on Cassette Store Day - pre-order here.
Fake Laugh is set to play shows with Oscar and Soph Nathan on October 2nd (Brighton, venue TBC) and 3rd (London KPH).
